I was one of the last ones to see Avatar before the Oscars are to be awarded later this evening.  I couldn’t help but the hear and see all of the hype around this movie and I wanted to see it before the awards were given.  After seeing the movie in 3-D, I have to go on record and say that I predict that Avatar will win the Oscar for Best Picture.  Here’s why:  This movie raises the bar in movie making and visual stimulation to a level that we have not seen before and the story was good and full of symbolism.  I even saw references to Christianity in some of the prayer scenes.  I wondered if the movie would keep my interest, because it is a long move,  but it did.  There is nothing else like Avatar out there yet and this movie has had a technical and financial impact on the movie business that will be felt from this point forward.  Now let me watch the awards to see if I’m right.

UPDATE:  The Hurt Locker has just been awarded the Oscar for Best Picture.  Congratulations to them.  I can’t talk about it because I have not seen it yet.  I’ll have to check it out soon.  Congratulations again.
